Go the F**k to Sleep is a bedtime book for parents who live in the real world, where a few snoozing kitties and cutesy rhymes don't always send a toddler sailing blissfully off to dreamland. Profane, affectionate, and radically honest, California Book Award-winning author Adam Mansbach's verses perfectly capture the familiar--and unspoken--tribulations of putting your little angel down for the night. In the process, they open up a conversation about parenting, granting us permission to admit our frustrations, and laugh at their absurdity.
With illustrations by Ricardo Cortes, Go the F**k to Sleep is beautiful, subversive, and pants-wettingly funny--a book for parents new, old, and expectant. You probably should not read it to your children.

REVIEW:

This book is totally hilarious; anyone with kids will love this book. As I was reading it I found myself thinking " I know exactly want the author is saying". If you are one of the many parents that has cried yourself to sleep before your kid has fallen asleep you MUST read this book.

One each page there is about 4 lines, 1st and 2nd lines are something you would expect to read in a children's book then the last two are what a parent is thinking about how long it takes their kid to go to sleep. All the excuses they use: I'm thirsty, I need to potty, etc.

"Bleary and dazed I awaken
To find your eyes shut, so I keep
My fingers crossed tight as I tiptoe away
And pray that you're f**king asleep."

I can't count how many times I've done the same thing. Seriously do yourself a favorite and read this book. It will make you feel less like a failure and less guilty for having thoughts of putting a pillow over the little one's face to make them sleep. {For those of you that don't have kids; that was a joke.}
