Fury (Fury, #1)Fury (The Fury Trilogy #1)
by Elizabeth Miles
Genre:YA
My Copy: ARC from BEA (thanks Grace!)
BUY: Amazon / B&N / Book Depository
RATING:

Sometimes sorry isn't enough....

It’s winter break in Ascension, Maine. The snow is falling and everything looks pristine and peaceful. But not all is as it seems...

Between cozy traditions and parties with her friends, Emily loves the holidays. And this year’s even better--the guy she’s been into for months is finally noticing her. But Em knows if she starts things with him, there’s no turning back. Because his girlfriend is Em’s best friend.

On the other side of town, Chase is having problems of his own. The stress of his home life is starting to take its toll, and his social life is unraveling. But that’s nothing compared to what’s really haunting him. Chase has done something cruel...something the perfect guy he pretends to be would never do. And it’s only a matter of time before he’s exposed.

In Ascension, mistakes can be deadly. And three girls—three beautiful, mysterious girls—are here to choose who will pay.

Em and Chase have been chosen.

REVIEW:

My blogger buddy Grace over at Livre D’ Amour {Books of Love} went to BEA this year and sent me a box of ARCs and Fury was one of them. So I knew nothing about the plot or author. I fell in love with the cover and I've seen it all over the web. I figured since it releases at the end of this month (Aug 30th) I better get to reading it.

I rarely go into a book without knowing anything about it; I didn’t even read the back cover and I’ve been avoiding other reviews about it. I didn’t have high expectations, which was kind of nice for a change.

I started with the idea that I’ll read it and I’ll either enjoy it or not. I enjoyed it a great deal. It was a break from the normal Paranormal/ Urban Fantasy that I read. Yes, it’s Young Adult and it’s based in high school about teens but it’s not too teenish. The problems that the teens face in Fury can easily be adult problems as well.

Fury kind of had an I Know What You Did Last Summer feel to the plot. With three girls stalking the two main characters and taunting them about the wrongs they did to other students.

I was a little surprised by some of the turns that the plot took and I found it refreshing that Miles was not afraid to let terrible things happen to the main characters. This is not a HEA book and I can’t wait for the next book.

I would recommend Fury by Elizabeth Miles to anyone that loves YA thrillers with a ghost story feel.

Side Note: I've not read a lot of YA but the language that was used in the book (F bombs and cock blocking, etc) seemed more fit for older readers instead of the 14+ that is stated on the back cover.
