Guest Blog + Giveaway: Jodie Becker & Sidney Bristol

SHOWTIME.

JODIE: I love the way shows are moving these days. There is so much variety that it's almost too hard to pick which ones to watch. I have to say that although I'm PAINFULLY behind in series that have yet to reach my shores, there are a few that I'm loving right now. First off the rank: Grimm. The fantastic story of a Grimm who can see demons and through his bloodlines must kill them. But this Grimm is different. Nick is a detective and doesn't want to hurt innocent fantasy creatures. He befriends a wieder blutbad or werewolf called Monroe who helps Nick in catching bad guys and giving him supernatural 101 crash course info. It has just started here on Foxtel and I'm loving it.

SIDNEY: Oooh, Grimm! I'm pretty sure I'm ahead of you, so I'll refrain from ruining it for you. This year is probably one of the first that sees me actually watching TV. For once I have a whole laundry list of shows I must watch. Grimm, Once Upon a Time, New Girl, Revenge, Being Human, Ink Master, Project Runway and all of the Real Housewife shows, it's a wonder I can keep them all straight! I seem to like a wide range of TV, so it's a good thing I finally upgraded to cable! But, I still watch most of my shows on Hulu sans commercials and at my convenience.

JODIE: I hate you. I don't know half these shows! And I have pay-TV! I live too close to the artic, that's the reason I haven't seen some of these. I must admit, I do like Project Runway. I watch it EVERY season. I am by no means a fashionista. You'll find me in casual wear almost all the time. And I generally end up liking what the judges hate. (>.>) I have to, of course, stay away from social networks sometimes so I can avoid getting spoilers. But thems the breaks I suppose. I'm eagerly waiting for New Girl, that just started. I love Zoey, she is so right for the role. And Coach... Ohh Coach. I already googled (I know bad) But I'm eerily good with faces and KNEW he was a WAYANS. I was right. I remember Damon WAYANS, his dad, in the movie Major Payne. LOVED it. Oh that's right, we're talking about TV shows we watch. Have you noticed over the last few years, series TV has picked up it's game. They are producing really good and original series and moving away from the usual Law & Order or CSI type stuff. I mean, I love them, but that's all I get here. It's like nothing else survives, everyone just wants to watch crime drama. *sob* Give me variety! I'm liking Teen Wolf... Is that bad? It seems more teen based but I don't care! I remember the original with M.J Fox and am liking the darker remake. What show is your guilty pleasure?

SIDNEY: I was really bummed when they replaced Coach on New Girl. His character was awesome and awkward in his own way. Dang. I watched Major Payne when I was... ready for it? ...in junior high. Awesome movie.

My guilty pleasure show right now is Ink Master. It's a reality tv show on Spike here in the US that puts tattoo artists against each other. If you know me at all, you know I have and love tattoos. When they announced the show I was practically salivating. It's hosted by Dave Navarro, and has two judges that along with Dave pass judgement on the tattoos the artists perform each week. It's only on it's second week, and I'm already watching reruns over and over and over again. Besides that, I love.... Bride Day on TLC, where all they do is show wedding shows. You know what's really twisted? I'm not married, engaged or even dating someone, and I don't particularily desire to be right now. I just really like the shows!!!

With the secret of his past hanging in the shadows, Dylan’s about to find out if love truly conquers all.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

I believe in love. Which is no surprise that I write romance. I started reading these saucy fictional pieces early on and never looked back. Nights were spent following the journey of two people finding love and tackling issues along the way. Of course, my teachers couldn’t appreciate my voracious need for books as I spent my school days catching cat naps when possible. Romance was responsible for my increased vocabulary, although I didn’t find a need to use the words on dit, coxcomb or nonsuch, in high school. Probably explains I read a lot of historical romances. I love the noble rake, knight in shining armour and the women who tamed them.

I did eventually get my very own noble. An honourable man who has given me two princesses. I now live happily with my husband, two princesses, one duchess and two hounds in Australia. While not writing, I’m reading, pretty much whatever tickles my fancy from the contemporary to all out urban fantasy. Oh, and I’m a WAHM, domestic goddess, mother and social queen on the nets.

What can you expect from me? Although I have a soft spot for historicals (it did pop my romance fiction cherry after all), I like to dance across other romance sub-genres. I think my muse is a bunny who hops from genre to genre. He is a grumpy sort, so I don’t really question him too much. You can catch up with me on the social networks chatting up a storm in the meantime!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

It can never be said that Sidney Bristol has had a ‘normal’ life. She is a recovering roller derby queen, former missionary, and tattoo addict. She grew up in a motor-home on the US highways (with an occasional jaunt into Canada and Mexico), traveling the rodeo circuit with her parents. Sidney has lived abroad in both Russia and Thailand, working with children and teenagers. She now lives in Texas where she splits her time between a job she loves, writing, reading and belly dancing.

  1. I got a couple of shows that I can't miss. I love True Blood. Never miss that show. I love the cast, I love the books. I met Charlaine Harris at a book signing a coule of years ago. She is awesome. My other guilty pleasure is Jersey Shore. That show makes me laugh. I love to watch to see what crazy s*@t they do next. I also love watching Supernatural and Vampire Diaries.
Thanks for the chance to win. Both of these books look great, both are new authors for me.

    1. I keep telling myself I'm going to start watching True Blood, and it hasn't happened. Some day! Especially now that it's on instant streaming. :D

  2. I have shows that I refuse to miss and even went so far as to get DVR so I can record one if another is on at the same time. I love supernatural, Fringe, Grimm, Being Human and The Vampire Diaries. I refuse to give up any of those shows and will really be irritated if any of them get cancelled anytime soon.

    1. I used to love The Office. Somewhere it lost me and I haven't gotten back into it. I keep telling myself to try it now that they've changed it up, but I haven't.

Merlin! I started watching this recently. I was able to watch the first two seasons on Hulu, and I tweeted about it way too much. It's interesting, I'm not in love with all the changes they did to the traditional mythology, but it is a heck of a lot of fun.

  5. I started watching Grimm, but my husband wasn't really into it, so I tried to dvr it but just finally gave up. I liked the Secret Circle but for some reason just lost interest in it but I do like Revenge so far. We just recently found a new show to us, it's been on a while, "The Big Bang Theory". It is my favorite other than The Closer. These books sound good. Thanks for the giveaway.

  6. Well, I have to admit that I watch very little TV these days--I do still sometimes watch Chuck because it makes me laugh, and I do enjoy watching Zachary Levi and Adam Baldwin :) Anyway, I keep hearing about Grimm and all these other shows that sound fabulous, but I know I couldn't keep up! Plus, any TV time just takes away from time I could be spending reading! And my TBR is so big it'd block out the sun, so I've got to have priorities! ;)

Gotta add your latest to it, as a matter of fact...

  7. I have to say that I just started Watching Once Upon a Time and wow I am hooked. It is done in a really interesting way. I have my old standbys to that include Castle and Vampire Diaries.
Sometimes I wish I had more time actually find shows.
