Stacking The Shelves

Stacking The Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews and it's about sharing what books you are adding to your shelves wither it's to your physical shelves or to your ebook "shelves".

Carpe Demon (Kate Connor - Demon Hunter, #1)Carpe Demon
(Kate Connor - Demon Hunter #1)
by Julie Kenner

Kate Connor used to be a demon hunter: Now she's a stay-at-home mom, a "glorified chauffeur for pep squad practice and Gymboree play dates." But when a demonic assassin shows up at her suburban home minutes before an important dinner party, the retired Hunter is forced back into action to save her town -- and her freshly baked mini-quiches -- from the invading fiend and his army of the undead.
Kate's husband and her two kids don't know anything about her demon-killing past -- and she wants to keep it that way. So while doing what supermoms do -- raising an inquisitive two-year old, dealing with a teenage girl's myriad of social issues, supporting an overworked husband running for county attorney, etc. -- Kate also finds time to unravel the mystery behind the sudden ghoulish invasion. It seems a master demon named Goramesh has come to town in search of an invaluable religious artifact secreted in a much-storied cathedral. But in order to obtain the relic, Goramesh must first find a suitable human subordinate

I've been looking for Carpe Demon for over a year and finally found it. It's always out of stock online and my local used book store had a copy that looked brand new. I hopes it's good or my long search would have been for nothing.

Deadlocked (Sookie Stackhouse, #12)
Deadlocked
(Sookie Stackhouse #12)
by Charlaine Harris

With Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), in town, it’s the worst possible time for a body to show up in Eric Northman’s front yard—especially the body of a woman whose blood he just drank. Now, it’s up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder. Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl’s fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who’s out to make Sookie’s world come crashing down.

I was ready to give up on the Sookie series after the last two books but seeing as the series is coming to an end with next year's book I will finish it up. Plus I've been seeing great reviews on it so I'm crossing my fingers that it's an enjoyable read. If not I didn't spend any $ on it since I picked it up from the library.

    1. It sounded like a fun read when I ran across is it several months ago on Goodreads and I've just now found it. I've ran across the others in the series but had a hard time finding the 1st book.

  5. I read Carpe Demon and have the second book on my shelf. It was kind of funny and like if Buffy had kids. I felt like there was a little bit too much kid stuff for my liking but it was a fun read. I still need to get Deadlock. Although I'm worried. I've heard quite a few bad things about it.

  6. I hope you enjoy Carpe! I'm about to re-release the second book (CALIFORNIA DEMON) in e-format in a few weeks (with some bonus content), and the sixth book in the series is coming this summer. Kate's a lot of fun to write...hopefully you'll enjoy spending time with her, too!

  10. My favorite bookstore has a few copies of Carpe Demon. I've seen it quite a few times. I read Deadlocked and I won't give any spoilers away but I still wasn't as impressed as I was with the earlier books in the series. Like you I wanted to give up on the Sookie series but since this series will always have a special place in my heart I felt obliged to read it.

  12. Hi girlie!:)

I've never heard of Carpe Demon before until now. I'm adding it to my Tbr on GR now. It's sounds really cool with a girl hiding her demon hunting past. Lol. Also I'm going to read Deadlocked but I'm so dissapointed the direction Sookie is going. It makes me very sad the way the direction for Sookie's HEA is going. I will read it but not right away. I still love that series, but it should have ended 3 books ago.

Thanks for visiting my post!! Happy reading!:)
