2013 Men in Uniform Reading Challenge hosted by The Book Vixen

  • Reading Challenge Details: Runs January 1, 2013 – December 31, 2013 (books read prior to 1/1/2013 do not count towards the challenge). You can join at anytime. Sign up on The Book Vixen’s blog
  • The goal is to read as many novels that feature men in uniform as you’d like. It can be a policeman, firefighter, paramedic, doctor, veterinarian, Army, Navy, Marine Corp., etc. – As long as the leading man wears some sort of uniform, it counts. See the different levels below and pick the one that works best for you. You can move up a level as often as you’d like but no moving down.
  • Books can be any format (bound, ebook, audio).
  • Books can be any genre (contemporary romance, m/m romance, fiction, non-fiction, etc.).
  • Novellas that are at least 100 pages in length, as well as full-length novels, will count for this reading challenge.
  • Re-reads and crossovers from other reading challenges are allowed.
  • Grab the reading challenge button and post this reading challenge on your blog to track your progress. Please include a link back to this sign-up post so others can join the reading challenge too. You do not have to be a book blogger to participate; you can track your progress on Goodreads or LibraryThing.

Levels:
Sergeant – Read 1–5 men in uniform novels
Lieutenant – Read 6–10 men in uniform novels *
Captain – Read 11–15 men in uniform novels
Chief – Read 16+ men in uniform novels

I'm shooting for Lieutenant. I have a few firemen books on my shelf to read in 2013 and the Cut & Run series that feature cops. Plus if sport uniforms count then I have Jaci Burton's Play by Play series to read too.

Book Plan:

  1. The Fireman Who Loved Me by Jennifer Bernard
  2. Hot for Fireman by Jennifer Bernard
  3. Sex and the Single Fireman by Jennifer Bernard
  4. Cut & Run by Abigail Roux
  5. Sticks & Stones by Abigail Roux
  6. Fish & Chips by Abigail Roux
  7. The Perfect Play by Jaci Burton
  8. Changing the Game by Jaci Burton
  9. Taking a Shot by Jaci Burton
  10. Playing to Win by Jaci Burton
Then if I have time I'll fit these in too:

Trail by Fire by Jo Davis
Under Fire by Jo Davis
Hidden by Fire by Jo Davis
Line of Fire by Jo Davis

  1. I have all of Marliss Melton, Robyn Carr, Suzanne Brockman, 90% of The Men in Uniform series by Harlequin. Can I count this? It did occur in the last 2 years.

    1. I don't see why not. You should contact The Book Vixen (the host) to see. But I'm sure the books do not have to be new releases.

    2. As long as you read (or re-read) the books in 2013, and the hero wears a uniform, they count towards the challenge.
