What the Feck (WTF): Romance in Urban Fantasy

What the Feck?! (WTF?!)
Every Monday we will post a book related topic
that had us thinking WTF?! while reading a book
or talking to others in the book community.

Romance in Urban Fantasy
Need it? Want it? Forget about it?
by Jennifer (aka The Book Nympho)

Most of us read Urban Fantasy for the world building, kick ass heroines/heroes and the fight scenes. Maybe you read UF because your not really a "romance" reader or you want to take a break from the smexiness of romance genres. BUT what happens when you find yourself continuing an UF series because you want to know if the main characters start playing naked twister between saving the world and cleaning their weapons?

  1. It is very secondary for me but I will say this: A Triangle is a HUGE Turn Off for me. If the hero/herion is so kick-ass how do they have time to juggle that? Plus not a fan of them anyway.

  2. I really don't need it, but I do enjoy when we get some sexual tension...NO, I love it when we get sexual tension. But in general I'm happy with a unique an original world and a kick-ass heroine or hero.

  3. I don't need it but I think there should be a minimum of one sex scene per book. It doesn't even have to be lengthy, just add some spice to the story.

  4. Need it, want it, gotta have it! But I like it nice and slow, and drawn out over several books.

  5. I like some because romance has always been a part of my life so to me it's a normal part of life. I don't like when romance is the whole plot. Okay, like examples, Darkfever, the CAGED series, The Forever Girl, Sookie Stackhouse series, etc. Books that have romance in them but that's not what the plot is.
