Vampire Diaries Season 3 Promo

Just as True Blood is coming to an end.
{Season Finale this Sunday}
We get to fill the void with Vampire Diaries.
{Here's hoping this season of VD is better than TB was!}

And since I "review" True Blood on Sundays nights
starting next week look for my thoughts
on VD on Thursday nights.

Season Three Starts September 15th
NEXT WEEK!!!

The new preview is loaded with teases of temptation, seduction, obsession and destruction. It's also got a cake filled with (what else?) blood and quite a few notable sneak peeks at what's to come in the next few episodes. Check out what to watch for after the jump!

1. Klaus makes a mean dessert: Our interest was piqued when we caught a glimpse of Klaus delivering a perfectly white cake, which Elena/Katherine later stabs with a knife. Did Klaus pick up baking lessons during the hiatus, or is this supposed to be some metaphor for destruction? The possibilities are endless...

2. Damon, Alaric and the couch potatoes: Damon and Alaric are still friends! But more importantly, why are there two dead girls sitting on a couch? Whose living room are the boys in? And why do we feel like Stefan is to blame for this?

3. Don't count Katherine out just yet: Unless it was a clip from previous seasons (we doubt it), we're pretty sure Kat's in the clip licking her lips after a hearty dinner. Yum.

4. Sleepover time: In the midst of all this havoc, at least two people will find time for romance. It's hard to tell exactly who from the clip, but squint your eyes hard enough and pause at just the right spots and, suddenly, Tyler and Caroline seem clear as day (or is that just wishful thinking?).

5. Someone takes a fall: Pause the video at the 47-second mark, and you'll see someone falling from high above. Guess it's never too early to start guessing who won't make it to season's end, right?

~ I grabbed the  Preview and list from MTV.com

Season 3 Ep 1:

IT'S MY PARTY - On the morning of Elena's 18th birthday, Caroline is busy planning a party, but Elena is focused on searching for any clues that might help her discover where Stefan is. Damon is also searching for Stefan, while trying to protect Elena and keep her from doing anything that would draw Klaus' attention. Meanwhile, Klaus and Stefan are busy trailing a werewolf named Ray Sutton (guest star David Gallagher, "Super 8"). Now working at the Mystic Grill along with Matt , Jeremy is struggling to understand why he keeps seeing the ghosts of Vicki (guest star Kayla Ewell) and Anna (guest star Malese Jow) since he was brought back to life by Bonnie's magic. Meanwhile, Alaric does his best to watch over Elena and Jeremy, while dealing with his grief over Jenna's death. Finally, Caroline and Tyler face a new and unexpected challenge. John Behring directed the episode written by Kevin Williamson & Julie Plec.

  1. Is this the kind of show that someone who hasn't watched or read the series would be more than a little confused? I avoided it when it came out, since their commercials were trying so hard to get the Twilight crowd, but some of the promos last season seemed kind of interesting. I just haven't had a chance to get Season 1 from Netflix yet.

  2. I've not read the books and a few of my friends that have said the skip them that the show was better.
    VD is based in high school but it's NOT Twilight. Think of it as a happy medium between Twilight and True Blood.
    I'm 33 and I enjoy it. It's not too teenish. There is blood and sex where Twilight doesn't really have that.

  3. Sincerely, the books and the series are completely different things except for the names, that's almost the only thing they took from the books. So if you want to watch it, don't read the books, they'll just confuse you more. IF YOU DO WANT TO READ THE BOOKS. DO IT! they are amazing and are just perfect if you like love triangles and vampires and highschool and all kinds of drama.
    I HONESTLY LOVE THE SERIES AND THE BOOKS BUT AS TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS... :)

  4. Thanks for the input. So sounds like they did about the same thing as the Bones creator did to the Temperance Brennan book series. I might try the books sometime, if the library has it.

    I can't drum up an interest for TB, the bits of seen, and I refuse to watch Twilight (why the VD commericals when the series started made me leary). But I'll give VD a try. Maybe it will be a good fill in while I wait for Being Human.

  5. I love this post!! :D
    The part where Katherine just had a meal, that was from a past season... :) But I love the trailer! And Ian is hot as always
