Q:What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don’t like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it!

A: When an author just won't let a series die. Some books series goes on forever. I hate it when I love a series but then it goes on too long and I end of hating it and dropping it.

Examples: Anita Blake, Sookie Stackhouse, Undead aka Queen Betsy.

After reading the last two Queen Betsy book I've decided to drop the series. And if it wasn't for there only being two books left in the Sookie series I would drop it too. But I'm going to see it to the end. I'm about ready to drop Anita Blake too but I have the latest book, Hit List on my shelf but only because I won it.

Another series that is gotten really long is the Breeds series. Really. Does a series need to have 20+ books like Anita and Breeds?

I'm all for series IF there is still a good plot to tell. But just to keep on in order to make money. BLAH.
I think a nice number for a books in a series is 4-7. If you're wishing that the main characters would just DIE already then it's time to kill the series.

  2. Well with the new Midnight Breeds Series I've been hearing that Lara Adrian is going to age some of the kids, so it will be a reboot sorts of.

  4. Lmao! My next rant is going to be about Anita Blake. I really, really loved her . . . And then . . . Seriously? It sucked several books back, and she won't stop writing. The last book I loved was Obsidian Butterfly. Didn't she say it was only going to be like an 8 book series? It was something like that . . . Arg!

    Btw, cute layout ^_~

  7. Hopping through. It would be hard to do any series justice if you have a dozen or more books. Unless it's episodic like Nancy Drew.

  8. Good point. Many series do outlive their effectiveness.

  9. You're right... I didn't think of that. The first Laurell K Hamilton were amazing but it's not the same thing now. I'll not stop any of this series or the other ones you told us, because I confess I keep hope it will improve and I'm so curious! But it's sometimes more desappointed.
