#FF - Talking Genres Outside Your Usual Genre

When you step out of your USUAL
genre what do you like to read?

I've been getting more and more into
Contemporary Romance genre to take a break from
my usual PNR/UF reads.

Best books in that genre?

So far my favorites are:

Travises Series by Lisa Kleypas
Sugar Daddy #1 REVIEW

The Layton Family Series by Avery Flynn

About Last Night by Ruthie Knox

What's your favorite authors or books
in the Contemporary Romance genre?

Feature & Follow

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

Q: Fight! Fight! If you could have two fictional characters battle it out (preferably from books), who would they be and who do you think would win?

Secret McQueen
vs.
Victory "Vicky" Vaughn

Secret is a half werewolf/vampire assassin who works for the vampire tribunal, killing rogue vampires.

Vicky is shapeshifter of the Welsh Cerddorion race who exterminates other people's personal demons for a living.

  • Both are good with swords.
  • Both are shifters (in Secret's case half shifter) that chooses not to change into their animal forms.
  • Both have sexy werewolf boyfriends.

  • Who would win?? I'm not sure. I dare say Vicky because she has the gift of magic on her side.

    by Nancy Holzner

Deadtown (Deadtown, #1) Hellforged (Deadtown, #2)

Bloodstone (Deadtown, #3) Darklands (Deadtown, #4)

    by Sierra Dean

The Secret Guide to Dating Monsters (Secret McQueen, #0.5) Something Secret This Way Comes (Secret McQueen #1)
A Bloody Good Secret (Secret McQueen, #2) Secret Santa (Secret McQueen #2.5)
Deep Dark Secret (Secret McQueen, #3) Keeping Secret (Secret McQueen #4)

If you liked to follow check out my sidebar for all the different ways that you can follow.
    Either GFC, Twitter, by Email.
Or if you are just stopping by that's fine too.

If you are familiar with these characters I'd love to hear which one you think would win.

Featured Bloggers: Book DenPawing Through the Books

Q: Go count the number of unread books sitting on your shelf. How many?

A: TOO FREAK MANY. I looked on my Nook for my ebook count and then counted my paper books (bought and borrowed). Total 705. I need more time to read!

I decided that I'm only doing Follow Friday once a month for 2012. I thought I would take a look at the question each week and when one grabbed me I would choose that week.

This one really got me to thinking so I had to pick this one. See this is why I've been on a buying band for about 4 months now. I don't need to buy any more books until I read the ones I already have.

It also shows that I may the right decision to not take on any new review requests. I've got to get my TBR pile down.

So how high is your pile?

Q: The New Year is here — and everyone wants to know your New Years Blogging Resolution! What are you going to try to revise, revamp and redo for 2012 on your blog?

Get ahead on my reviews. I usually post my reviews right after I read a book. I want to stay at least two books ahead. I've been reading like mad the last two weeks so I can get my review requests done since I'll be starting back to school in the mid-January and my last two classes for my Associates of Arts degree will be science glasses with labs (YUCK) my fun reading will be cut down. (I see a lot of audio books in the car and at work in my future.)

Plus I've planned out a theme for each month for 2012 (look for my 2012 plan to be posted 1/2/12) which will help me cut into my massive TBR pile and get more active with authors posts and interviews.

So in a nut shell, better organized and a little more professional. After all I have this great new "big girl" look (thanks to Parajunkee, cheap plug) I need to put on my "big girl" panties and roll up my sleeves.

I'm also kicking around the idea of starting another blog for reviews on the children's books I read to my son. It might have to wait until I'm done with school though.

Q: If you had to spend eternity inside the pages of a book which book would you choose and why?

    Mmmm..... lets see. Choices, choices.

Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward would be awesome expect for all the baby powder.
Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost would be kick ass.
But I'm going with the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. Why? JZB of course! (Hello...do you see the Mac Halo on my head in the header for the blog?!)

Q: When you’ve read a book, what do you do with it? (Keep it, give it away, donate it, sell it, swap it..?)
A: Before I started The Book Nympho I would sell the books I didn't want to keep on ebay or I would swap them out at a used book store. Now I usually give them away through giveaways or hops.

    The Hunger Games Trilogy Boxset
Question: Keeping with the Spirit of Giving this season, what book do you think EVERYONE should read and if you could, you would buy it for all of your family and friends?

Answer:  Oh this is a hard one. But I think I would go with The Hunger Games just because most of my family would not be into the paranormal books like me and The Hunger Games would be a great way to ease them into the fantasy world.

Now for my friends I would recommend the Fever series but most of them have already read it.

Q:What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don’t like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it!

A: When an author just won't let a series die. Some books series goes on forever. I hate it when I love a series but then it goes on too long and I end of hating it and dropping it.

Examples: Anita Blake, Sookie Stackhouse, Undead aka Queen Betsy.

After reading the last two Queen Betsy book I've decided to drop the series. And if it wasn't for there only being two books left in the Sookie series I would drop it too. But I'm going to see it to the end. I'm about ready to drop Anita Blake too but I have the latest book, Hit List on my shelf but only because I won it.

Another series that is gotten really long is the Breeds series. Really. Does a series need to have 20+ books like Anita and Breeds?

I'm all for series IF there is still a good plot to tell. But just to keep on in order to make money. BLAH.
I think a nice number for a books in a series is 4-7. If you're wishing that the main characters would just DIE already then it's time to kill the series.

Q: It's Thanksgiving Day in the US, so we want to know what you are Thankful for - blogging related of course! Who has helped you out along the way? What books are you thankful for reading?

A: First a list of bloggers that have helped me out either by personal means or through there great posts on their blogs.

    Lori @ Romancing the Darkside
    Grace @ Livre De Amour

I meet Lori and Grace through Shelfari groups. Lori has given me some great advance for a bigger blogger when ever I've had questions and she always has great taste in books. Grace got me started reviewing books by asking me to be a guest review on her blog before I started The Book Nympho.

    Rachel @ Paranjunkee

Rachel has helped a lot of us with her BB101 posts and featuring bloggers through the Follow Friday. She also recently gave The Book Nympho an awesome face lift with her magic wand and designing talent.

    Carmel @ Rabid Reads

Carmel has a great new feature on her blog called Holler at a Blogger, which she featured The Book Nympho a couple weeks ago. She will feature a different blog each week that she has "stalked" for a week by leaving comments on their blog on different posts through out the week. This is a great feature that helps us find new blogs and also helps us keep in mind to reach out through leaving MEANINGFUL comments for each other.

    Jen @ Red Hot Books

Through her HONEST reviews is helping me less shy about being more out spoken in my own reviews when I thought that maybe some of my thoughts might have been a little too much. So look out, I'm not holding back anymore. LOL

    Thanks ladies! You all ROCK!

Books that I'm thankful for reading so far this year:

    Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning
    Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
    Hard Bitten by Chloe Neill

A: I don't really have a MUST have list at the moment. But here are a few I wouldn't mind getting to get me caught up on a few series I've started or want to start.

    ME!

Q:  In light of 11.11.11 and Veteran's Day tell us about your favorite solider and how he or she is saving the world. Fictional or real life.

A:  Since I do not know any real life soldiers; I'm going fictional. Tate from the Night Huntress Series. I know he is not a usual fave in the series especially for the Bones lovers (which I LOVE Bones) but I've always gone against the general public and liked him anyway. Plus it doesn't hurt that Jeaniene Frost has said that he looks like Brad Pitt in Mr. & Mrs. Smith. That's one nice visual.
