Passion Creek (The Layton Family, #3)

Uptight history professor Sam Layton may have the abs of a movie action hero, but he stopped believing in the joy of adventure a long time ago. However, when a one-night stand with a tattooed bombshell leads to a treasure map for the long-buried Rebecca’s Bounty, the call to action is too strong to ignore. All

Las Vegas cocktail waitress Josie Winarsky wants to do is paint. But when she lands smack dab in the middle in a mob plot, she has to push aside her dreams to find a treasure in Dry Creek, Nebraska and save her family from harm. With Sam at her side and a Vegas loan shark on her tail, the treasure she finds turn out to be much more valuable than emeralds and rubies.

REVIEW:

Josie and Sam steam up the pages in the 3rd installment of The Layton Family Series by Avery Flynn and fans of contemporary romance with a little suspense edge will enjoy reading Passion Creek.  I've read the 2nd book, Seduction Creek (formally titled Dry Creek Bed) and we get a glance at Sam and Josie at the end but it's not necessary to have read Seduction Creek to enjoy Passion Creek. But both books are good and I plan to go back and read book 1, Temptation Creek.

Josie and Sam share a hot night in Vegas after she walks away from her job as a cocktail waitress where she hits one of her customers over the head for grabbing her breast.

Josie noticed the tall drink of water named Sam at the poker table and then later has a drink with him at the casino bar. One thing leads to another and the two are hot and heavy in his hotel room. But Josie doesn't go back for seconds with any guy. She's all about the one night stands to keep her heart safe.

When Sam finds out that Josie has plans to head to his home town, Dry Creek, he thinks that she is working with someone to find out information about a family secret treasure that people, including him, in his family have been looking for decades.

Josie is a painter at heart and was hoping to go to Dry Creek to get her painting mojo back but after learning that her bother is in trouble with a loan shark and that she must pay his loan back to save their parents Josie thinking that Sam's treasure hunt is not a bad idea. But she can't get Sam out of her mind; she keeps dreaming about him and their one night that shared in Vegas.

Sam is a straight lace professor in the small town of Dry Creek and ever since his one night stand with Josie he can't get her out of his mind. She is the opposite of what he wants in his life, chaos. But damn if he doesn't need a like chaos to shake up his boring life.

REVIEW: A Dry Creek Bed by Avery Flynn

A Dry Creek Bed (Dry Creek Series #2)

A Dry Creek Bed
by Avery Flynn
Dry Creek Series Book 2
Published January 4th 2012 by Evernight Publishing
ebook
RATING:★★★

Dry Creek County Sheriff Hank Layton is the stuff of dreams. Nasty, steamy, delicious fantasies that leave Beth Martinez weak-kneed and desperately wanting the man she can never have.

Hank can’t stop thinking about Beth to the point where he’s afraid of becoming permanently bowlegged. And even though the sexual tension between them is thick enough to trip over, she runs every time he chases.

But when a mysterious developer forces her neighbors off their land, Beth becomes the one person standing between the scoundrel and millions of dollars. Only Hank can help her uncover the truth. Together they risk their lives exposing decades-old secrets and learn that everything is not as it seems in their rural Nebraska town.

REVIEW:

I received a copy of books 1 & 2 in the series for the blog tour through Bewitching Book Tours. And due to a busy school schedule I didn’t have time to read book 1, Up a Dry Creek before I read A Dry Creek Bed. But I will quickly find time to read book 1 and if it’s has half as good as the second book I can’t wait.

I love books that have couples that have known each other for years. And since Beth is Hank’s little sister’s best friend they have grown up together. But their feelings for each other are anything but sisterly and brotherly. Beth has had a crush on Hank since she was twelve; Hank has lusted after Beth since he returned home from the military and seeing the lovely twenty year old woman she had become.

But one night changed their course in life and Hank married another woman. Years later Hank is a divorced man and he is seeing Beth in that lusty light again.

Beth is still dealing with a painful past and a new heart break that not even her best friend knows about. And she is has been getting threatening phone calls. Lucky for her the town’s sheriff is the sexy Hank.

A Dry Creek Bed has everything from suspense, mystery, romance and a gun carrying old lady with a scrapbooking fetish. If you want a quick read that has heart and action, pick up A Dry Creek Bed by Avery Flynn. I’m off to read book 1 and can’t wait for other books in this series about the Layton family. After all Hank still has two sexy brothers that need their stories told.
