Review: Big Game by C.J. Ellisson

Big Game
by C.J. Ellisson
Book Three The VV Inn Series

In this much-anticipated third installment of the V V Inn series, our sexy couple journeys to Argentina, bringing half their seethe along for the ride.

Vivian and Rafe venture into the Seat of Darkness, the Tribunal’s base, to uncover who’s plotting them against and why. From a cold, windy island off the southern Argentine coast, to the decadence of Buenos Aires, the group has plenty to keep their attention—seductive twins, deadly games, and a bunch of bloodsucking fiends who hate our much-loved, despotic innkeeper enough to see her dead.

Asa and Jon stay in Alaska, to manage the famous inn as it opens doors to a new type of guest. Visiting werewolves go on their first exploration of the property, looking for big game—hormones run high and shots ring out across the tundra. Soon, the hunters become the hunted and the peaceful getaway resembles a battleground.

How many will survive the next five days and will they ever be the same again?

Warning: This book contains very explicit sex scenes and is not intended for readers under 18.

The title Big Game made me think we were going to get mostly the story about Jon, Vivan’s sexy werewolf, vampire servant but I was wrong. Big Game really does sum up the book. There are so many games going on in this plot from the werewolves that come to the inn to hunt, to the games that the Tribunal vampires play at the Seat of Darkness.

C.J. Ellisson sticks with her mulit POV for Big Game that she used in the other books in the series. It sounds like it would be a hard read to follow but I actually like it. It’s like watching a sopa oprea. You get to read a scene from one POV and then you which to another scene through a different POV. It’s a great way to see what everyone is up too and get their thoughts on the bigger picture.

Big Game is split into two different stories that intertwit with each other. You have part of Vivian’s seethe that stayed home in Alaska to run the Inn for the off season werewolf guests. They have a wild animal hunt planned for the visiting werewolf pack. Then there’s the other half of the seethe that went with Vivian and her sexy husband, Rafe to South America to attend a meeting of sorts with the Tribunal. But they decide to show up a little early and unannoucned in hopes of finding out who Vivian’s emeny(s) are within the Tribunal.

Big Game has all the sexiness and mystery that the earlier books have to offer. A few things from The Hunt get answered and then C.J. leaves us with more questions and a tiny cliffhanger as to how Vivian and Rafe will handle things that happen at the end of the book.

I can’t wait to sink my fangs into the installament in this super sexy series by Ellisson. Weither you are a vampire or werewolf fan you will enjoy this read.

  1. I love the idea of a vampire bed and breakfast, I read the first VV book and loved the themes for the rooms.

  2. Thanks for the review, Jennifer! Glad to see you enjoyed the book. Don't think I'll be doing another one from six POvs, it was harder than I'd like, that's for sure!

Thanks for commenting, Carin! I loved the themed rooms, too. Think I'll have to write a sexy scene in one of them very soon…. ;-)
