Follow Friday

Things have been a little quite around here at The Book Nympho.
I am busy getting myself and my son ready for school and I'm going on vacation next week.
I did get a lovely surprise from my hubby. He upgraded me to a Nook Color for my birthday (Oct 5th). I was really surprised with it being 2 months early. LOL

This week's question:

Q: Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?).

A: I have two books.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer because it got me to read. Before I picked it up back in 2009 I had not read a book for "fun" in over 13 years. Now I read 1-3 books a week.

The other is Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins because it stayed with me for weeks after I read it. I was in such a reading funk, that nothing was "good" to me after I read it.

  1. I have read a lot of good things about Mockingjay around the blogs for the past few months..It seems to be one of the faves, but I've never read it!

I chose a VERY popular book too, lol!

  2. I was so depressed when Mockingjay ended. The same thing happened to me, too: nothing was good enough and I ended up putting almost everything down for about two weeks after I read it.

  5. Fun stuff! I haven't read Mockingjay, because somehow I got my hands on some spoilers that just ruined it for me. I'm planning on reading it, I just think that Hunger Games became so real to me that I'm like, well, if I don't read it, then it's not over! I know...it's a little insane. But good choice! You can see what my answer was over at Fuzzy.Coffee.Books if ya like!

  6. Aha! Twilight, I knew it! :P

I can understand so many people finding Twilight a life-changing book, since it was one of those books that got people into book-blogging to begin with! Good choices!

Here's my answer, by the way, new follower!

  8. Twilight did the same for me. I still have to read The Hunger Games books. Trying to get through my TBR pile before buying new books though.

  11. New follower here :) I found the Twilight saga extremely influential and changing as well. And Mockingjay kept me thinking long after I had finished the book.

Hope you have a great weekend!
