ROAST: It's My Turn!

You've heard from some of my blogging friends this past week. Now let's see if they stay my friends after I have my say. {Evil cackle}

red hot booksYou know why I had to jump in and say Stomp vs Romp? So I could get a word in edge wise. Jen at Red Hot Books will corner an author and talk and talk and talk. Girl's got to do what she can to get noticed while around her.

Oh and fair warning to all those going to RT....she gets louder and more talkative the more she drinks.

But I will forgive her for all that since she is the one the that opened my eyes to the wonderful world that is gay porn. Thank you! But if I hear the words "if you say so..." one more time, I'm going to put a pillow over your face while you sleep at RT.

The Book Vixen
Brianna at The Book Vixen how could you ask a question about Man Titties? Really what's wrong with you?! Man Titties trump EVERYTHING. The only way a cover can be any better is if they put the beans and frank on the cover too.

Y'all if I got missing after RT you know that Amber I at Awesomesauce Bookclub has pull a Buffalo Bill and is wearing my skin as a dress.

Blumpkin - Term meaning to receive oral sex while defecating

Hot Karl - The act in which a woman sucks the cock of the same man who moments earlier was balls deep in her can.

Hot ListensLupdilup you are the main reason I got into audio books. You opened up my ears to smut on audio; a perv can't get enough smut so thanks for showing me that I can get my freak on at work.

Raises a jello shot to ya chica! Keep on listen!

My Alter Ego CharlieOh poor Jen at The Bawdy Book Blog has deluded herself into thinking she is a bigger Fever fan than me. What the Feck?! She's spent too much time sniffing glue on the spines of books. Tisk tisk.

“I'm sorry your pretty little world got all screwed up, but everybody's does, and you go on. It's how you go on that defines you.”

Little Read Riding Hood
While Laura is in the corner crying and whining I'm thinking of ways to make her my bitch at AADSAV. She thinks I'm scary online.....she has no idea what is in store for her when we meet in person.

The only way she can make things better for herself is to have ALL of the NH series and spin-off books read before August.

Jenses have the balls to ask the real questions first. Don't wait for me to call your ass out on it.  Seriously, who gives a feck about my favorite food? They want to know what B.O.B I endorse!  You go ahead and make that road trip to AADSAV for the signing. It will be a pleasure to bitch slap you with a jelly Osaka for questions like that.

How dare you call me a whore.... wait you said book whore. Ok fair enough. You promised not to talk about my oral skills. Just for that I'm talking Dean AND Sam, they will enjoy those skills and not tell!

Since that series we're not talking about sucked the big one (for us) then get off your petunia and pick one that will rock my face off.

Seriously, you guys are a bunch of fun whores that any blogger would consider themselves in hell to have you as friends. Keep up the author blocking, weird stalking and whining about not knowing how to organize your asses. Cuz this bitch loves every one of you and thanks you for being part of the 1st annual Roast of The Book Nympho. But since you all sucked at your jobs I'll be getting a different group of bloggers next year.

Giveaway is open to anywhere that The Book Depo ships to.

ROAST: Talking About Oral Skills and Petunias

Happy Two Year Blogoversary to the only chick I know who can review erotica and Dr. Seuss on the same blog without getting into trouble!

Jennifer (The Book Nympho) and I first met on Shelfari, back when we were first establishing our blogs. Overwhelmed with so many options and questions, we often reached out to one another whenever we had a “What the Feck?” blogging moment (trust me there were plenty) and I’ve always appreciated her opinion and honesty. Our love of books, Man Candy, Supernatural and The Walking Dead (yes, she loves zombies too) has kept us chatting on Twitter way past our bedtimes many a night! #IDontMind

Most recently we collaborated on what we thought would be a fun read-a-long (that shall remain nameless) and had high hopes, only to have it blow up in our faces when we realized the books were not our cup of tea, to say the least…hopefully our next collaboration won’t be another WTF moment to add to the list!

Since The Book Nympho is a fan of KMM’s Fever series (of Barrons to be exact) and has had all her marshmallows toasted so far, I thought it’d be fun to pay homage by sizing her up with the series heroine, the infamous Rainbow Girl. Enjoy!

A Few Things The Book Nympho
and MacKayla Lane Have in Common…

  • They’re mouthy, smartass blondes…
  • You don’t know if you’re going to love her or leave her when you first meet…
  • They’re book whores…
  • Modesty is not their strong suit…
  • A filter is something they use only when brewing coffee…
  • Talking to books is perfectly normal…
  • Their oral skills are impeccable…(hey get your minds out of the gutter!)
  • Working with them can be a pain in the petunia but they always get the job done!

ROAST: Jenese Pusses Out

Another one pusses out on us and takes the safe road with an interview. Let's see what questions Jenese from Readers Confession had for me.

Quickies

  • Fav food? Italtian
  • Fav alcoholic beverage? Margaritas (prefer frozen)
  • Fav color? Purple
  • Fav author? Karen Marie Moning (if I had to name JUST one)
  • One book you would recommend to a non-reader? Hunger Games for the "safe" read (no sex and little to no adult language. For those more adventurous, Darkfever.

What's your biggest blogging regret or mistake?

No regrets so far. Mistake, spelling and grammar errors that I don't catch myself.

How much time do you spend on blogging weekly?

1-2 hours a day so around 10 hours a week. Give or take.

Best blogging experience?

Getting to talk with some of my favorite authors through Twitter.

Biggest fan girl moment?

Meeting Jeaniene Frost at AADNOLA

I know you and several of your blogging buddies (names will NOT be disclosed) love to tweet pictures of lovely looking men. :-D Who is your favorite male specimen? (Pics please)

Just to name a few: David Gandy, Supernatural's Dean & Sam

With the whole copy right thing, here is a link to the yumminess on my Pinterest Page

You have some tattoos and you wish you could get removed. Tramp stamp- Oh yeah!! Why do you hate it?

Ducks head.... I've always thought tatoos were tacky looking. I can't even stand an ink pen mark on my hand. I got a bug up my arse one day and got TWO at one time. But I did think ahead to my old age and in case I gain 300lbs and got my them in places that you can't see unless I wear a tank top (which has to be hotter than hell if I wear one in public) or my shirt rides up. (right shoulder and lower back) so they most likely won't sag in those places either. Nothing worst than having a tat on the "ladies" and years later it not look the same because the ladies are down to my knees.

Your most coveted possession? (Besides your kid, hopefully your hubby too, haha)

Wow. I would not have named either. (bad mother/wife?!) My hubby got me a Macbook Pro for Xmas so I would say that is my most coveted possession with my NookColor a close second. Oh and I can't forget about my hardback Fever series collection!!

What's your biggest pet peeve?

Reading - Dog earring and spine breaking. Oh and peeps spoiling you on Twitter about books. I'm not talking about the random tweets but the ones that peeps direct at you. UGH really? Do I need to start blocking peeps?!

Real Life - People making noise in the movie theather. WTF I paid $20 to see the movie I want to F&#*ing hear too. Chew that F&#*ing popcorn a little louder asshat. Talk after the movie!! For the love that is all holy turn your fecking cell phone off. And don't get me started on the people that rattle the shit out of candy wrappers.

ROAST - Book Bullying & Scaring the Sh*t out of Laura

Little Read Riding Hood

Jennifer The Book Nympho can be a scary beast. I “met” her not long after I started blogging and was invited to join The Terrible Girls Group on Goodreads. There is a group of us who are absolutely obsessed, probably beyond what is healthy, with Stacia Kane’s Downside Ghosts series, and more specifically, the character Terrible. Were he to magically become real we would probably kill each other over him. But I digress …

As a group, we decided we wanted to do Terrible Girl Buddy Reads and for some unholy (ha! – ok, you will only think it’s funny if you know Downside Ghosts) reason I decided my first buddy read was going to be with Jen. We picked Dead on the Delta as our read and I was super excited to get started. I had only been blogging for about 1 ½ months at the time and was excited to work with someone I considered “one of those bloggers,” with lots of followers and was hoping she could be a good teacher and guide to me. Good lord I didn’t know what I signed up for.

Jennifer is one of those people that is very hard to read when talking to online. My very first email from her was a scheduling email, working with google calendar – something I didn’t even know existed (but has now become my best friend). I don’t think it even said anything, just the date and book. Ok, maybe she likes to get the details down before the fun starts. Ha!

She scared the crap out of me every time I had a new message in my inbox. I didn’t understand how it could take her so long to get the book read, I mean it only took me a couple days (I get it now – boy do I get it!) and every email was just a few sentences long. Very utilitarian. I knew she didn’t like me and probably thought I was stupid. But somehow, our post came together and it looked pretty good! Ok hers looked good, mine looked like a 4 year old was give access to my page. (It still looks that way, check out the post! http://wp.me/p2v3VX-2u)

After that, I was super nervous to do another buddy post, but I did one anyway. And you know what? I was able to take the lead on that one because of the super organized way Jennifer set ours up. And after a few weeks, I realized she was still talking to me on Twitter and in our group, so she couldn’t hate me that much.

Until she found out I hadn’t read the Night Huntress series. You would have thought I’d killed a baby. She was so appalled that I am pretty sure she rigged a giveaway just so I would win. And instead of winning just one book, I somehow ended up with the first four. And I have been instructed I am not allowed to participate in any more group or buddy reads until I get that read.

She is such a book bully. And I wouldn’t change a thing.  Congratulations on two years of book blogging!

Laura is also celebrating her a Blogoversary this month.
Make sure you check it out.

I’m A Bigger Fan of the Fever Series
Than The Book Nympho

I don’t care what Jennifer tells you, I am a bigger fan of the Fever series than she is. That she has an avatar with a Mac Halo is irrelevant. If I had thought of it first, it would be mine! I don’t care that her background looks like AWC Dublin….that’s MY ‘hood ya’ll! AND SHE CAN JUST FORGET ABOUT BARRONS.

But just in case – JUST IN CASE – I am wrong, we’re going to have a little quiz to see how much she knows about the Fever world, and settle it once and for all.

That’s right – I’m going to interview Jennifer about all things Fever. Let’s see how she fares. Oh yeah, and BTW: one lucky reader here will win one of the Fever series books from The Book Depository. If you haven’t read it yet, we suggest you start with Darkfever.

ROAST: Lupdilup Interviews ME About Audiobooks

 From one junkie to another

Happy Blogoversery!

I'm always thrilled when I find peeps that love audiobooks as much as I do, so getting to know Jennifer has been a real treat. So I thought for her blogoversary week I would interview her and share with you some her inside thoughts about the world of audio books. But first let me tell you how nice it was to meet her in person, I was surprised to have found her to be a very good girl. I was expecting her to be a very wild girl and a total party animal, but either I didn't spend enough time with her or I didn't send enough drinks her way..LOL In any case, it was true pleasure to have met her. So without farther due, here is my interview, from one junkie to another.

Hot Listens

How did you discover audiobooks?

I wanted to do a reread of the 3rd Sookie Stackhouse book before the new (then not now) season of True Blood started so I could compare the two but I didn’t really have time to squeeze in the book so I checked out the audio from the library. I didn’t care too much for the narration but I thought if I got the right narrator I could really enjoy audios. So once I started the Kate Daniels series and fell in love with the narrator, Renee Rodman I was hooked.

Do you remember you first listen?

My first listen was one of the Harry Potter books, can’t remember which one. I borrowed it from a co-worker and tried to listen to it at work and it almost put me to sleep. I could not get into the british guy’s narration so I stopped after only one chapter. After that the next one was the Sookie Stackhouse book mentioned above.

How do you feel about the sex scenes on audio?

If the narrator is good and the scene is written well they are GREAT. A dirty little secret during the workday when others think I’m listening to music. LOL Although I can’t imagine what the narrators must go through reading them. LOL

Can you tell us a few of your favorite narrators and why?

  • Xe Sands - she is awesome when it comes to UF. She has a smokey and strong voice that lends well to UF heroines and males alike.
  • Lauren Fortgang - She bring Gin Blanco and Finn Lane to life from Jennifer Estep’s Elemental Assassin series like no one else could.
  • Renée Raudman - Another great UF narrator. I’ve also heard her narrate romance but I prefer her for Kate Daniels’ voice. She does has a take charge kind of voice that is so Kate.
  • Amanda Ronconi - FUNNY. She does an amazing job as narrating Molly Harper’s books. She has pretty good range with her voice for different accents and both sexes.
  • Lorelei King - I love her narration of Charley Davidson series by Jones that I won’t even read the books now. I can only listen. I feel like she is acting out the book instead of just reading it. I can hear Charley’s body language in King’s voice. (If that makes sense.)
  • Bahni Turpin - OMFG she is awesome!! NO ONE could do the Downside slang justice like Turpin can. I’m speechless....
  • Robert Petkoff - he does a great job of doing both sexes when narrating the IAD series.
  • Phil Gigante - one word.... Barrons. Ok Two words..... Barrons/Ryodan

Have you had a book that read made better by the narrator?

The White Trash Zombie books by Diana Rowland. The narrations made it some much better. Not that the books aren't written well, they are but the narrator’s snark and accents were spot on. It’s another series that I will not read but will continue on in audio format.

If you could only recommend one series on audio, which would it be?

That’s hard. I would say Downside Ghosts by Stacia Kane. While reading the books are great the slang can be a little off putting at first and like I said before Turpin just nails it.

Who is your favorite male character on audio?

Barrons no doubt. But when read by Phil.

Who is your favorite female character on audio?

Gin Blanco from the Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep.

Here is a little taste from
some of Jennifer's favorite audiobooks

In celebration, Lupdilup is giving away a copy of
Poison Princess by Kresley Cole on audio.

ROAST: Stalkerish Love Letter from Amber

Dear Jennifer,

Since its you blogoversary I have decided to come out of my Stalker closet and let you and the world know how much I love you. I have been keeping it a secret for far to long and its just time to put it out there. I mean the whole reason I decided to go to the RT convention was to meet you. lol This is serious business

How it all began:

I remember the first time I started to notice you. Carmel at Rabid Reads was doing that Feature Holler at a Blogger and you she choose you. Your name made me want to hop over and check you out. This is when you where under construction with your new design. So I made sure I followed you everywhere then one day on twitter I saw your new avi so I had to jump over and see your design and it was love at first site. I couldn't help it, your design was my favorite thing ever.

Then as time went on we still really weren't on a big talking basis. But I kept seeing you and Jen from Red Hot Books talking dirty and her showing her those penis pictures. Which got me even more interested. I love me some perverts. So I of coarse started jumping in your conversations and you both welcomed me with open arms. Those conversations are what I consider a start to a very beautiful relationship.

Your Pervertness:

I also remember a night where we were all talking and you where popping out crazy gross sexual phrases that no person should really know about. I mean I remember something about toe sex and I think that was the tamest thing you had going. Then we would tweet you a word and you would make up the most bizarre sexual like things that it could mean. You would also critique those penis pictures like it was your job. It was great fun and that is when I just knew this was the real thing. My secret stalker crush was validated.

You are my new book Pimp:

You recommend me these series that I have never read and just love!! The Kate Daniels series, The Jane True series and I am sure there are other random books out there too. I can't imagine my life without reading these amazing books. I am so happy you gave me the push I needed to read them. Especially the Jane True series I had never even heard of it.

To Sum it all up:

I just plain love you. (too soon?) You are just awesome. I love how funny you are, your sick sense of humor, your book recommendations and pretty much everything about you. I think you are the complete package. I hope I don't scare you off because I need you in my life. I can't wait to meet you two times this year! Yes your crazy stalker is following you around at book conventions. I promise not to do anything weird so there is no reason to sleep with one eye open or anything.

Love Always,

Amber I @ AwesomeSauce Book Club

ROAST: The Book Vixen - Man Titties

The Book Vixen

Brianna from The Book Vixen decided to play it safe and instead of roasting me, she sent me some interview questions. Let's see what she had to ask.

You listen to a lot of audio books. How did you get into audio books? Is it your preferred method of reading and if so, why is that?

I got into audios because I was sick of listening to the same old music at work so I thought why not try audios to make my work day go by faster. I started with a Sookie Stackhouse book for a reread to get ready for the upcoming True Blood series (book #3, Season #3). Then I moved on to Charley Davidson series and then I got an audible.com account and it just blew up from there.

Are they my preferred methon of reading? At first no. They were just a way to tune out co-workers talk about sports (at the time I worked with mostly guys). Then after I found some great narrators, I really got into them. Lately I've been lazy with my reading and if it wasn't for audios I would only get 1 book a week read. Audios are great for helping me get my TBR list down.

If you had to read just one genre from this point forward, which would it be?

Before my answer would have been Paranormal Romance but I'm getting burn out on the instant love and the same plot over and over so I'm going to go with Urban Fantasy. The genre has a little bit of everything; mystery, action and sexual tense and even in some UF books full on sex.

How long have you been a reader? Have you been a bookworm since childhood or is it something that came later?

I HATED to read when I was younger. I got into a reading kick one summer in high school where I read a lot of R.L. Stine books but then after that I didn't pick up another book for fun until 2008 when I saw the Twilight movie trailer and then found out it was based on a book (I know I was living under a rock and not heard of this series) so I grabbed a copy to read before I saw the movie and after that I've been a reader.

Of course I've moved on to much better and HOTTER books. I average 1-3 books a week now.

What has been your favorite read of 2013 so far?
My top read for 2013 (not released in 2013) would have to be Cut & Run by by Madeleine Urban, Abigail Roux. Why? Because it's full of action and a great cop case with a serial killer (I love to watch cop shows). Plus there's a fantasic romance that builds between the two FBI agents, Ty and Zane. Cut & Run is my first M/M read and I can't wait to catch up on the series.

(I'm keeping a running list of my 2013 Top Reads on my side bar. Just click on the graphic to the see them all)

Who is the latest book boyfriend you've added to your collection (because we can never pick just one!)?
The newest guy to make the list is Alex Warin from the Sentinels of New Orleans series by Suzanne Johnson. He's a hot shifter that I see getting even hotter in the 3rd book coming out in August.

Which book(s) has been on your TBR list for way too long?
I think the two series that have been on my bookshelf and TBR list the longes is The Hollows series by Kim Harrison and the Highlander series by KMM. I've started The Hollows and have plans to start the Highlander series this fall.

What was the last book you read that was out of your 'comfort zone' that you enjoyed?
I've not really read any books out of my true comfort zone yet. But I would say Cut & Run just because it was my first M/M and romantic supsense book. And Poison Princess by Kresly Cole just because I don't read a lot of YA. Both are very good books!

Man Titty Cover!!!

Do you prefer man titty covers or covers that have items that can be found on a men's dresser?
Man titties or as my husband calls them "useless nipples", all the way.

What's something you've learned from reading romance? Something you've learned from reading urban fantasy?
Romance - There are only so many terms for penis and vagina and they are all funny in their lameness.
UF - Fight scenes can lost longer and be more fun than some sex scenes.

Coffee or chocolate? (You can only pick one.)
Chocolate! I'm not a coffee drinker unless you count the coffee flavored milkshakes.

ROAST: Jen Pulls NO Punches

red hot books

“Hi I’m Jennifer, from the Book Nympho. You know, Stomp vs Romp.” These were the words that plagued me throughout Authors After Dark. Yes, I know I have told this story on my own blog, but readers of The Book Nympho might have missed it.

Jennifer and I started blogging about the same time and sort of came up together on the blogosphere and social media. I’ve always enjoyed chatting with her on Twitter, generally about books, sex, or… ok, really just those two things… so I was excited to meet her at the conference last summer. We spent a lot of time together, drinking, laughing, and stalking authors. But every time I walked up to someone and introduced myself, she popped up like a fucking jack-in-the-box, stepping in front of me, talking about her damn feature. Nicole Peeler, Kelly Meding, Sylvia Day (though she denies that last one.) I couldn’t take her anywhere!

Then, like the fool that I am, I decided to room with her at RT!! I guess I am a glutton for punishment. She tells me that she and Carmel are going to do a Stomp vs Romp part two, just so she can torture me again. To this I say, Go ahead. I know where you’ll be sleeping those nights!!

Though I bitch and moan –and call her a whore when she steals my book boyfriends—I have really enjoyed getting to know Jennifer on Twitter. I know how much she has grown to love gay porn. (Who doesn’t?) I know she prefers her men to be without body hair. I know all the specs on her vibrator. (Don’t ask.) I know how often she gets lucky. And I know that when she tells you she is just about to read a book you know she’ll love and you’ve recommended to her for months, she is lying through her teeth.

But I also know she is a lot of fun. Despite my totally justified concerns that she will start another feature to plague me with, I am actually really excited about our trip in May. Together, we will wreak havoc on Kansas City and scandalize the sweet ladies who have yet to meet us in person. Jennifer, I’ll bring the booze… you bring the dirty movies! And when we finish spending the days being great big book nerds, we’re gonna find us some Big Dick Richie strippers and paint the town red. Whatever happens in KC, stays in KC! (Unless you piss me off and then I’ll totally blog about it.)

LOL. Seriously, congratulations on two great years of blogging! Now… have you started that second Cut & Run book yet?
